Wine Advocate 93 points (Feb 2008) The 2005 St.-Joseph Vignes de l’Hospice boasts a dense purple hue, huge tannin, but massive concentration and intensity. Minerality, floral notes, and an impression of a blockbuster Syrah walking on a tightrope are present in this brilliantly executed and etched wine. Give it 4-5 years of cellaring, and drink it over the following two decades. Wine Spectator 93 points (Oct 15 2008) Shows a modern kiss of toast up front, but it quickly melds into the fleshy currant, fig and hoisin sauce notes, which are followed by cocoa and violet. The nicely rounded finish shows superb length and balance. Best from 2009 through 2014. 800 cases made. –JM |
