"The 2004 Barolo San Lorenzo (from a vineyard in Verduno) is a powerful, brooding wine. It reveals a dark, vibrant color along with smoke, tar, black cherries and licorice on an imposing, masculine frame. There is impressive depth here, the wine just needs time for the essence of the fruit to emerge. The San Lorenzo is aged for a few months in 500-liter French oak barrels then racked into cask where it completes its aging. This is another stunningly beautiful wine from Fratelli Alessandria. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024."
