Wine Spectator: 93 Points
Broodingly powerful, with a core of lively acidity and firm tannins. Aromas of boysenberry and crushed rock open to complex flavors of black cherry, smoky beef and grilled herb, finishing with muscular tannins. Hands off for now.

The 2013 Syrah Jack Robert? Run offers floral blueberry and blackberry fruit, a structured, tannic mouthfeel, high-toned red, blue and black fruits, and an earthy finish infused with licorice and meaty notes. This wine will benefit from several years of bottle age and keep for 12-15 years.

The 2013 Syrah Jack Robert's Run Gregori Vineyard is quite a bit more floral and lifted in style than the Eddie's Patch. Rose petal, sweet red berries, mint and pomegranate are nicely delineated in the glass. Overall, the Jack Robert's is quite feminine and gracious in style. There is plenty to look forward to. I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted at DuMol this year. Winemaker Andy Smith is no longer at Larkmead and is now solely focused on DuMol, which can only be a good thing for these wines ... DuMol occupies a pretty solid position in the middle of the stylistic spectrum, which is one of the reasons they are so delicious. In my view, these wines have never been better.
