Beautifully made old vines Chardonnay from Maconnais. Sporting nice weight, this features lovely floral, lemon and mineral notes that captivate the senses. Enjoy this charming wine with salads, fish and chicken dishes.
Producer Description
A wonderful introduction to the one of the more prestigious regions of the Mâconnais this wine comes from the village of Clessé on land located in the heart of the appellation. The vines average 65 years in age and are planted on a slope to the south-east shelf called "The Mount". The altitude and good drainage of this Mount preserve the freshness of the grapes. 100% Chardonnay that is supple and lively as it was mostly vilified in stainless steel tanks with 20% from the oldest vines are fermented and aged in oak barrels of 450 or 600 liters.
Aromas of fresh citrus, nectarines, ripe peach and apricot with an elegant floral note and underlying stony nuances. The palate is complex with a touch more fruit in the beginning but the mineralogy shows through on the uplifting vibrant finish.
An ideal pairing with shellfish and fish dishes, poultry, and goat cheeses.
