Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy:
In bottle. Pale lemon colour. Clean, classy, marine nose with good fruit weight, but no obvious heat. Fattens out the flesh at the finish in a way that will make this wine more rather than less popular, because it retains a freshness of approach as well, and excellent persistence. 85% in barrel Tasted: October 2020.
Producer Description
Located at the southern end of the Côte Chalonnaise, the Montagny AOC only produces Chardonnay. Blending of different cuvées vinified separately from Bonneveaux, Perrières et Coères.
Full and round on the palate with notes of minerality, spices and hazelnut. It is fresh and pleasing in the first two to three years with seven years aging potential.
Burghound
This is actually aromatically similar to the Oncle Vincent except with more citrus influence. The racy, intense and appealingly detailed flavors possess a sleeker mouthfeel if not quite the density on the very dry, focused and lingering finish. This could use a bit more depth but it's certainly very pretty and nicely refreshing.
